The option I chose to base my essay around was option 1. “Within a specific cultural context, evaluate the relationships between sound art, identity
and vernacular forms of sound practice.” I chose to work with what I was familiar with, the alternative subculture. I have personally been part of this self-identified group of people for most of my life, and strongly believe in the ideals that we uphold. I settled on first finding interviews of other alternative people, and trying to find the ‘source’ of emo itself.
