My first aim in using Logic Pro X was to identify sounds to potentially use in my track that fit the goal I needed to achieve: an ambient, upbeat instrumental track.
I started with testing out the AI drummers in an 808 synth setting, and then changing their performance in the drums editor

The bass I chose to work with was a classic synth bass similar to those used by New Order, which I would later play in using a Yamaha P-45 Digital Piano.
Moving onto sound pads, I spent a good amount of time going through them and playing different chords in both minor and major to gauge their usability in my project.
My lead synth I found quite challenging because I originally wanted to write my lead using a Korg but did not have access to one. I tried out the Korg pad on Logic but it didn’t have the sound I was going for, so I tested further and discovered the ‘Tight Punchy Lead’ which has a large reverb, quite like classic 80s Roland Bell string synths.
Lastly, I considered options for my intro/outro and went to freesound.org to find a recording of static that I liked, downloaded, and imported it. I later made a decision to use this static recording as background for the dropout parts of my track too.
