intro to sound arts

I have always had a profound interest in arts and media. Growing up on a fairground gave me ample opportunity to experiment with this interest, and eventually, my interest developed to include sound in multiple different contexts, for example, sound in movies.

After finding sound in movies to be as interesting as the live sounds of the fair, I discovered the world of sound production and recording behind the scenes; foley sound creation. I am fascinated by the way scenes are elevated and transformed by even the simplest additions of background noises. For example, a scene with a character in a restaurant could be changed simply by the addition/subtraction of the sound of the hubbub of other diners.

In the future, I hope to learn more about other areas of sound, like creating atmospheric sound to accompany things like documentaries, exhibitions, and games.

what is sound arts to me?

Sound Arts to me is the study of the sounds in the world and the practical application of manipulating them. Not only the sounds we can find in nature but all the sounds we are able to create as a result of new technology.
